PONTiS provides a “new” paradigm for viewing the church’s role in society. We share highly effective low-risk strategies that have been developed in the trenches, as well as in prayer and study, to help the church do its part in fulfilling mankind’s original assignment to “fill the earth and subdue it.”
The church is God’s primary instrument of redemption in the earth both personally and socially. However, because the church has failed to see its mission in redeeming the culture and has become inward and self protective, we are witnessing the truth of Jesus’ words in Matthew 5:13, “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.” There is no safety for the church in turning inward. The only safety is the pursuit of our mission to turn outward as salt and light.
When God gave mankind the stewardship of the planet in Genesis 1:28, he intended for us to be the instruments by which he would exercise his will in creation. PONTiS helps churches affect positive change in their communities by providing ways to understand and implement principles of social transformation.
PONTiS is unleashing the resources that can bring his will to pass “on earth as it is in heaven.” The scriptures indicate that this will happen (1 Corinthians 15:25). The question is, will it happen through us in our lifetime? Or in the lifetime of our children?
As believers learn to purposefully weave themselves into the fabric of the community, working with others to steward the planet, remarkable changes will occur that can lift whole cities and even nations out of the doldrums and into the refreshing breeze of divine destiny.
