“You build bridges, John. You have to go where the rivers are.” Helena Patterson to John Patterson – The Ghost and the Darkness – 1996
At Pontis, we build bridges. Not physical bridges but conceptual and relational bridges – bridges from what is to what should be and bridges from what should be into what is. Bridges bring things and people together. Bridges overcome obstacles. They open new horizons. Bridges often make what was once very difficult to reach more accessible for those who follow.
Our bridges do all of these things by developing means for conveying ancient wisdom from the Bible into the present culture within the context of real life experience. Our goal is to provide opportunity. Opportunity for understanding, for greater clarity, for light where there has been darkness, for liberty where there has been oppression, for purpose where there has been too little.
Bridges can open the way for transformation and it is transformation that we seek. Ultimately the goal is that we bridge the Kingdom of Heaven into the current culture in answer to Jesus’ prayer, “Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. “
By living out the wisdom of the scriptures and exhibiting the life of Jesus in the presence of those who need him and helping others to do the same, we bring hope to people who desperately need something new, something alive in the present, something with hope for the future. Without dependence upon religious jargon and yet valuing ancient truth and seeking to live lives of devotion, we seek to point the way for others who wish for the same, lives that are anchored in the past while also being meaningful in the present and into the future.
Yes, we build bridges, bridges that will make a difference for generations to come.
